Our Story
In early Spring of 2005, a group of local families and church leaders became increasingly convinced of the need for a community church presence in Leavenworth. Such a church would be nondenominational and inclusive, centered around the essentials of historic Christian faith while allowing for differences of opinion in nonessential areas.
After an unsuccessful attempt to pursue this vision within existing church structures, organizational meetings were held at local homes to establish a new church. Elders were appointed and John and Lisa Romine were called to provide pastoral leadership to the new church. After a series of potluck fellowship meetings, the first service of the new church was held May 22, 2005 at the Enzian Inn. Following that service, those present selected the name Light in the Valley Community Church as best representing the identity and vision of the fledgling congregation.
The church moved in June 2005 to Osborn Elementary School, then in November to its present location at Icicle River Middle School.
