Serving Locally

From our inception, serving the people of Leavenworth in Christ's name has been one of our core values. Here are some of the ways we engage our community:

  • JustJesus - This outreach of the LIV family is growing in size and in momentum. They continue to look for creative ways to meet the pressing needs of their neighbors. If you have a need or know of someone in need contact Billie Jo Ellis or Kim Thibault.
  • Meals ministry - People returning home from a hospital stay sometimes need temporary help with meals; this ministry provides food to families during their recovery.
  • Common Ground - This youth outreach to middle and high schoolers is led by Mark Smith and a group of volunteers. Dozens of young people find a winsome presentation of the person of Jesus during their weekly meetings.
  • Celebrate Recovery - Men and women gather to face their addictive behavior in a twelve-step program where Jesus Christ is at the center
  • Freedom Fest - Individuals from Light in the Valley have contributed significantly to this community-wide outreach program, held outdoors annually during the month of July.
  • Royal Family Kids' Camp - Royal Family Kids Camp is a one week overnight camp designed to meet the unique and overwhelming needs of abused and neglected children. LIV provides volunteers for the camp scheduled each year in central Washington.
  • Solomon's Porch - Solomon's Porch is a youth-directed ministry to reach the young people of Wenatchee - especially those who live on the margins - with the gospel of Christ.
  • SHARE/M.E.N.D. - M.E.N.D. (Meeting Each Need with Dignity) is the social ministry arm of Upper Valley churches. They provide affordable food and clothing at the Community Cupboard, and seek to make affordable housing available through SHARE.
  • Camas Meadows Bible Camp - For decades, this camp at Camas Meadows has introduced boys and girls to Jesus as part of its unique camping ministry. LIV provides volunteers and scholarships in support of this life-changing ministry.
  • Foundations - Mike Rumley-Wells mentors college-age young men and women, and leads regularly-scheduled visits to serve the people of Nicaragua.
  • American Missionary Fellowship - The Native Americans of northern Washington State witness God's love through the sacrificial service of the Twitchells.
