What to expect

What to expectThere's often some anxiety going to a new church for the first time. Maybe you haven't been to a church for a few years; or, you might simply be new to the Leavenworth area and are looking for a church that fits your needs. Here's a brief description of what you'll find during your first visit to Light in the Valley Community Church:

Dress is casual. During the summer months, you'll see shorts and sandals (sometimes even on the pastor!). Free coffee is available for you to enjoy; go ahead and take your cup with you to your seat.

The worship style at Light in the Valley is contemporary. That means we have a worship band leading us in songs written within the past few years by some of today's leading Christian musicians. Lyrics are projected on the wall to assist in our singing. Don't worry if you don't know the songs - we're sometimes learning them right along with you!

Children of all ages are welcome. We have a nursery for the youngest ones, and a special church program for elementary school-aged children during the worship service so you can participate undistracted.

We do receive an offering during the service. However, it's important you know we have no expectation that our guests contribute. Simply pass the basket along and allow us to serve you during your visit.

The pastor will speak from the Bible on a subject of relevance to our worshippers, for approximately thirty minutes. Feel free to take notes on the outline provided in the program handed you when you arrive.

A normal service will start at 10:00 am and should end at approximately 11:30 am.

If you have any further questions about what to expect, don't hesitate to call us first. You can contact Administrative Assistant Shirley Acheson at 509.548.6070, or pastor John Romine at 509.548.7832.
